Flipside || Let the Debate Begin

When HP asked us to think of a way to engage IT professionals and raise awareness of HP’s commitment to energy efficient printers, we thought what better way to get attention than to use a well-known web celebrity?

The Flipside rich media units feature Alex Albrecht of Diggnation and Totally Rad Show fame. Alex is a podcaster well-known in the self-described culture of geeks, appealing to the IT professionals we were trying to reach. We pitted Alex against a foil as they humorously debate topics to which any IT professional can relate like telecommuting or watching online videos while at work.

A revolutionary aspect of these ad units is that all of the topics are interconnected at the conclusion of a topic, allowing all of the debates to be watched even if you only saw one ad unit in your surfing.

HP Daily Surprise AIR app

HP has hundreds of great, free projects and crafts and we wanted to give these projects their due. Working with HP, we conceived and designed a simple desktop calendar delivering a daily creative project available for download. In addition to IA and interface design, I also designed the icon for the Daily Surprise.

The application is programmed using Adobe’s AIR technology and is supported by a content management system, allowing multiple parties to maintain the database of projects. See how the Daily Surprise works and install it, visit here.

HP Interactive Conversation

We designed an interactive conversation, creating the illusion of a smart dialog with the computer.

We were tasked with educating IT decision makers in a small business (a very specific target) about the benefits of HP Multi-function printers. Yawn, right? We injected some humor, used old-school pixellated graphics and animation and gave the whole piece some attitude. And by the way, yours truly is the voiceover talent as well as information architect, user experience designer, illustrator, animator and art director.

HP eKit Consumer Ad Units

Rather than run banner ads that try to drive a person to a website, why not place a shareable widget that lets people create and print right from the expandable widget? The HP eKits are placed through media buys in a standard 300×250 unit and upon interaction, they expand to offer projects to the viewer without ever leaving the page.

This design is a compelling new way to spread HP creative printing projects out to their loyal printer customers.

Snapfish Valentine e-card microsite

Snapfish asked Hamilton Partners to create an online application for Valentine’s Day that would entice their current and potential customers to send a fun, animated e-card to family and friends. I designed the architecture and user interface providing an easy 3-step process and helped create three unique animated e-cards complete with original music, allowing the Snapfish user to upload their photo and personalize their message. We made it extremely easy, so these custom Snapfish Valentines could be easily shared.

In less than 3 weeks, the site achieved 184% of the client’s goal, generating 368,000 sent cards.
